Magnetotransport properties of a percolating network of magnetite crystals embedded in a glass-ceramic matrix
In this paper, the electrical transport and magnetoresistance of a series of novel magnetic glass-ceramics (which have potential for use in hyperthermic treatment of cancer) were studied for the first time and a new theory describing the magnetotransport phenomena was proposed. Although bulk magnetite is one of the oldest and most studied magnetic materials, the paper shows that its magnetic and electrical properties are completely different from those of magnetite crystals embedded in a glass-ceramic matrix. The paper demonstrates the importance of microstructure, sample preparation and post processing on the electrical and magnetic properties of these materials.
