<27>Based on a JISC-funded study of the barriers to uptake of services supporting research in UK HEIs. Findings emphasise importance of local research support and continuity of provision throughout the research lifecycle. The research reported in this paper has influenced policy within JISC, being presented at its “Future of Research” conference aimed at senior HEI staff such as VPs for Research. It has been referenced by EPSRC in its “Crossing the Chasm” call. Still today the most comprehensive study of the uptake of digital research methods such as the use of grid and cloud computing across the UK HEI sector.
