Automatic tracking of implanted fiducial markers in cone beam CT projection images
Work in this topic area provided a case for the organisation of the VISAPP’2010 Special Session on Engineering and Computational Sciences for Medical Imaging in Oncology. http://www.visapp.visigrapp.org/VISAPP2010/Special_Sessions.htm. This paper reports on one of the outcomes of the EPSRC project EP/D077540/1 and is an extension of work published at VISAPP’2010. The method described is part of the suite of tools for image based compensation of patient motion for CBCT reconstructions. This new tracking methodology improves the resolution of the acquired CBCT data, an important step towards real-time monitoring during radiation therapy delivery.
