Additional information

Based on work with Manchester Metropolitan University and the University of Sofia, this project involves surface engineering, tribology and microbiology and was one of a series of projects on ceramic/metal composite coatings. These coatings have formed the basis of subsequent collaboration in projects at MMU evaluating and modifying their properties to investigate potential applications in pin tract infections (funded by MMU) and in the meat processing industry (funded by the Danish Science and Technology Body at MMU). The collaboration between surface engineers, tribologists and microbiologists provides an unusual range of expertise which is demand by industry.
