Schad’s contribution to this volume was to write the Preface (pp. 1-4), the prose-poem on the cover and the critical-creative text “GodotonSea” (pp. 250-73). He conceived the idea for the collection based on the ‘Critic as Artist’ conference organised in 2008, commissioned the contributors and edited the other entries. This is the concluding volume in a series including monographs by J. Hillis Miller, Jean-Michel Rabaté and Thomas Docherty. Schad discussed and read from “GodotOnSea” on BBC R3’s The Verb, April 2011, and the essay by Kevin Mills won the M. Wynn Thomas Prize for 2012.
