Additional information

This paper shows for the first time that chemical looping hydrogen production can be performed for more than 100 cycles in a stable manner (increased cyclability is a necessary condition of commercialisation). This was achieved by innovative materials choice. Rather than use iron oxide, which would undergo phase changes and lose structural integrity, an iron-containg perovskite was employed. The function of this material was predicted using a thermodynamic approach and good agreement in actual tests was observed.
