Additional information
The management of vegetation in waterways is of importance for flood risk and ecological status. Previous research has failed to produce transferable tools to quantify the impact of vegetation. This paper describes the development and verification of a mathematical model for estimating dispersion coefficients in vegetated flow, based on novel laboratory experiments using live vegetation. This work provided the scientific basis for a recent EPSRC grant (EP/K01952X/1) supported by the UK water industry and Natural England.
