Additional information

This research demonstrated the ability of the Acoustic Emission technology to identify, in-situ, the geometric location of a sub-surface defect on a bearing race under conditions that encouraged the natural degradation process of a rolling element bearing. The outcome of this paper led to Lloyds Register sponsoring a follow-on research project (£50k) to further develop the applicability of the technology in industry.
