Numerical modelling of fracture of particulate composites using SPH method
This work focused on investigating the feasibility of applying the SPH method to particulate composites. The numerical simulations established that the developed methodology is able to accurately predict the debonding of the particles and fracture of the composites. Further, it is also demonstrated that the developed numerical procedures can be utilised in analysing particulate composites with multiple inclusions with various shapes and sizes. The authors have been invited subsequently to work on a collaborative research project involving advanced composite material by Dr Raj Das (r.das@auckland.ac.nz, University of Auckland, Department of Mechanical Engineering and Centre for Advanced Composite Materials).
