Cucumber mosaic virus and its 2b RNA silencing suppressor modify plant-aphid interactions in tobacco
<28> This paper, which innovatively combines experimentation with data analysis, addresses interactions between plants and insects, and is the first contribution of this kind to plant pathology. The paper addresses immunological responses of plants that help them fight off pathogens and thus is of high importance in breeding programmes for plant resistance and so contributes to Food Security. A key aspect is a probabilistic model underlying the variability in the response which played a key role in understanding the processes. This research was carried out as part of an interdisciplinary team involving plant and molecular biologists.
