Towards theory building in agile manufacturing strategies—Case studies of an agility taxonomy
This paper is recognised for pioneering a taxonomical theory of agile manufacturing strategies. Traditionally, agility is considered a single strategy. This work discovered, for the first time, the existence of three distinctly different agility strategies and identified the characteristics, business cases for, and ways for delivering the strategies. The work has strongly influenced other researchers (e.g., Prof An-Yuan Chang, National Formosa University, ayc@nfu.edu.tw; IJPR 51(2):582-597) and has had a huge impact in industry, e.g. J+S Ltd credits it for over £10M in new contracts (Eric.Abretti@jands.co.uk), and Beijing COMPO credits it for increasing company turnover by 4 times in 4 years (hehj2000@vip.sina.com).
