Additional information

The first ever experimental investigation of trilayer graphene and the demonstration that this material is the only known system with an overlap between valence and conduction bands which can be tuned by applying a voltage. The work generated widespread interest in academia (is being used by many research labs, e.g. Lau Group, University of California Riverside, Jarillo-Herrero Group, MIT) and with the general public (highlights in Nature Asia Materials 28/09/2009, De Volkskrant 17/06/2009). This work led to the award of EP/J000396/1 grant under the EPSRC-JST Strategic Japanese-UK Cooperative Program for collaboration with Prof S. Taruch in Japan.
