Disengagement Detection in Online Learning: Validation Studies and Perspectives
<16>This work shows that disengagement models can be developed for different online learning environments using the same attributes commonly logged, i.e. information logged by most online systems such as pages visited and time spend on each page. Models using the same attributes were experimentally validated for two different learning environments. Most models tend to be built for specific learning environments and this research makes a significant step towards building models that can be generalized to a variety of online learning systems. Our work in this area of building a generalizable model of engagement has so far received over 100 citations.
