Additional information

<26> Published in one of the top journals in image processing and pattern analysis, this paper is a definitive report of the research first presented at ICIP’09. A novel and generic framework is presented for the denoising of images based on regional similarity. The resulting multiresolution-multilateral filtering algorithm has found industry application in the reduction of speckle in ultrasound imaging for cattle follicle segmentation (Tang, BMC Genomics 2010; Tang, IEEE SMC’12) and has impacted on new bilateral filters (Gabiger-Rose, IECON’11) and Bayesian image denoising (Jung, IET Image Processing 2012).
