This paper is one of a few selected for the IEEE Joint Special Issue on Power Electronics in Emerging Applications. This special edition is dedicated to the future challenge of developing new techniques for low cost emerging applications. Despite the constant improvement in the performance and price of microprocessor technology, industry is still very sensitive to cost. This paper consider low complexity algorithms which only require limited hardware resources to implement; thus making them more attractive for commercial application. An improvement of 28% in computational efficiency is achieved.
