Additional information

Frequency modulated (OFDM) systems are ubiquitous, from wireless networks to terrestrial microwave links. Bit Error rate (BER) analysis is important as there are important trade-offs between error handling and bandwidth utilisation. This research work was is an international collaboration with Khalifa University, UAE (Dweik). It develops a new decoding algorithm which breaks away from conventional approaches to analysing error performance. In particular, it addresses a particular hyper-Rayleigh fading channel model which is more representative of the aforementioned wireless systems than other models that are simplified through Gaussian approximation via the central limit theorem.
