Additional information

For effective wireless 4G cellular communication it is essential to synchronise the carrier phase offset (CFO) between transmitter and receiver. Overhead information is normally necessary to achieve this, which reduces the information throughput. This blind method requires no signal overhead and outperforms other current approaches requiring, for the same computational complexity, 4 dB less of transmitted signal power to achieve CFO estimates with 10-5 accuracy in the mean squared error sense, thus extending battery life of portable devices. The work results from an international exchange with the University of Khalifa, UAE (Al-Dweik) and Tampere University of Technology, Finland (Hazmi).
