An approach for virtual appliance distribution for service deployment
<02>Originality: We created a new automated virtual appliance deployment service which rebuilds services in virtual machines on cloud without any manual intervention. To further improve deployment the service decomposes virtual appliances into packages and replicates the common packages in repositories.
Significance: This service enables dynamic service deployment without any human involvement. The decomposition algorithm can decrease the deployment time up to 10-20% enabling faster adaptation and deployment of services. This solution is used in the FP7 Cloud-SME and SCI-BUS project.
Rigour: The paper presents the architecture of the deployment service and describes the appliance decomposition algorithm. Tests confirm the performance improvement.
