Double-weighted statement

Naturalistic Psychology in Galen and Stoicism (Oxford University Press, 2010, viii + 396. This represents one of the main outcomes of 4 years of intensive research activity (funded by Leverhulme MRF and AHRC study leave). The book is innovative in combining two separate subjects (Galenic and Stoic psychology) and in formulating a wholly new line of argument about their relationship. The book also combines searching analysis of complex ideas in ancient philosophy and medicine with close scrutiny of salient passages, many of which (in Galen especially) have received relatively little previous study.
