Significance of output:

First clinical trials (in world’s top medical ultrasonics journal) for invention which won the 2008 ‘Medical & Healthcare’ award by ‘The Engineer’ (& was finalist for 2009 Unico National Business Impact award and an NHS award). Trials show the device correctly predicted successful treatments 94.7% of the time, compared to the 36.8% scored by clinician in theatre using the best currently-available equipment. Over 100 patients now treated. Consultants also now showing it gives early warning of unsuccessful treatments, allowing cessation before side-effects can begin (doi:10.1098/rspa.2012.0538).
