The Irish Rebellion of 1641 and the Wars of the Three Kingdoms develops the complex concept of an ethnic, sectarian and cultural revolt in the tense climate that existed in Ireland during the 1640s. It is built upon detailed analysis of an extensive body of material, the 1641 Depositions (comprising over 19,000 pages of witness testimonies) and of contemporary pamphlets and correspondence that was difficult to access as it was housed in archives across Britain, Ireland and America. Internal reviews have praised it for its interdisciplinary scope and its extensive use of a range of primary materials.
