Additional information

Work described the most efficient thermochromic window design to date and formed the basis of the £100k EPSRC first-grant EP/K015354/1, plus £50k matching funding from UCL. Research carried out in collaboration with NSG/Pilkington that is interested in commercializing the technology for their high-end glazing products. Pilkington’s contribution includes access to their equipment, provision of thermochromic materials and know-how on thin-film deposition processes (contact:clare.hill@nsg.com). Interdisciplinary research performed with UCL’s Chemistry Department contributing £25k in consumables and apparatus for material deposition and characterisation (contact:i.p.parkin@ucl.ac.uk). Work attracted significant interest from Sharp that intends to provide £69k to fund a new PhD student (contact:martin.tillin@sharp.uk).
