Additional information

Fenton launched Lynchpin Production Ltd in 2001. Fenton was the producer of 'Centrefold’, an animated documentary about the ethics of labia surgery. It was designed to inform and highlight contemporary debate on the ethics of plastic surgery, and was funded by the Wellcome Trust. 'Centrefold' takes a balanced approach to this controversial topic, following three women, aged 24-41 through their different experiences of labiaplasty (surgery to trim or remove the labia). It documents what is involved in the procedure and its varying outcomes. The medium of animation allows for the telling of difficult truths in a non-confrontational way. Fenton was the producer and worked in collaboration with director Ellie Land, and in consultation with leading clinicians from University College London Hospitals. 'Centrefold' was featured heavily in the press throughout July 2012 including in The Independent, Huffington Post, BBC online and Radio 4's Women's Hour. Fenton researched how to present and promote 'Centrefold' on-line to reach the widest possible audience, a key Wellcome Trust funding requirement. She was also responsible for marketing and distribution, again pursuing the widest possible audience for the film, and encouraging debate about, and understanding of, its subject matter.

The Austrian Government invited 'Centrefold' to be part of their conference on Women's Bodies and Politics, November 2012.
