Additional information

The paper contributes to the understanding of Schottky electron emitters. In collaboration with the electron beam division of Shimadzu Corporation, Japan, a novel Schottky cathode is developed that offers four times larger angular current intensity compared to current technology. The subject of a joint PCT patent (PCT/GB06/050180), the Shimadzu Corporation (fujita@shimadzu.co.jp) is building an advanced electron probe instrument based on this new technology.
