English abstract

Spanish. Miradas insumisas (which can be translated as Rebellious looks) is a volume about the intersections between gay experience and film. The volume's main thesis is that subjects looking at film (as audiences) or making films (as artists) have to adapt personal experience of homosexuality to what is allowed in a given historical context or to the conventions of filmmaking. Special attention is paid to the diversity of strategies arising from a diversity of contexts (censorship, studio system, avantgarde, art film, gay cinema, etc) used by artists to convey their experience.
