Additional information

<08> This paper is seminal work in evaluating functional languages for commercial use and is joint with Motorola UK Labs.

This is the first systematic evaluation of functional languages for commercial distributed software engineering. In addition to the scientific principles established, the paper has significant impact in the developer community, e.g. slides reporting the results have over 16K views on Reddit; Motorola product groups adopted Erlang; a project software component became a mission-critical product; and Erlang evangelists became established within Motorola.

The work laid the foundations for the £3.3M EU FP7 RELEASE STREP that Trinder coordinates.
