Additional information

<01>In this paper we present for the first time the feasibility of using composite right/left-handed transmission-line (CRLH-TL) unit-cells to realise high performance ultra-wideband (UWB) microwave bandpass filters. Unlike conventional UWB filters the proposed device is: easy to design and fabricate, smaller in size, offers superior passband selectivity, and possesses high out-of-band rejection. Interference suppression is important for UWB systems to operate over spectrum occupied by pre-existing narrowband systems. The proposed CRLH-TL device also enables the creation of band-notched capability within the filter’s passband in order to provide interference immunity from undesired radio signals, e.g. WLAN, that co-exists inside the UWB spectrum which could significantly degrade system performance.
