Additional information

This paper established a new hybrid optimisation method, employing heuristic and classical techniques to jointly maximise location based network access and the connected capacity of new distributed renewable generation. This has the potential to improve asset management and enable distribution network operators to meet connection obligations, within constrained systems. This work led to extensive collaboration with the University of Salerno, (DoI:10.1007/978-3-642-13250-6_1; DoI:10.1007/s12652-012-0163-6) and contributed to the award of the SuperGen FlexNet (EP/E04011X/1 £6.9M total award) and UK China Net (EP/F061242/1) projects.
