Additional information

This is an original study on the application of UHF measurement techniques to partial discharge produced under DC conditions. Given the significant investment in high voltage DC links for electricity transmission over long distances, the work is highly significant to distribution network operators as very few studies have been made in this area. It is necessary to know what condition monitoring techniques can be applied to DC systems and whether expertise gained in PD monitoring on AC systems can be transferred. This study suggests the UHF technique can in fact be applied to DC systems.
