Additional information

This is the first report in a journal of the measurements made by a novel and patented prototype industrial-scale device developed through funding obtained as a £200k Proof of Concept award. The measurement of solids mass flow rate by a thermal method can in principle make such measurements without many of the drawbacks of alternative systems and represents a significant advance in the area. The results and analysis presented in this paper demonstrate the potential of the technique to be applied to industrial scale systems of relevance to a wide range of industry
