Significance of output:

The novelty of this study lies within its integration of a biochemical methane potential test within a comprehensive carbon mass balance, incorporating gas production rates and leachate chemistry measurements during both small and large scale waste degradation experiments. The significance of this work, throughout the solid waste industry globally, is its potential use for rapidly predicting gas production and waste settlement potential caused by biodegradation and potential chemical influences on waste structure.
