Additional information

The study was undertaken as part of a larger effort to establish a common CFD code for a wide range of applications. Low-velocity in viscid and viscous flows are simulated using the compressible Euler and Navier-Stokes equations with finite-volume discretisations on unstructured grids. Block preconditioning is used to speed up the convergence of the iterative process. The capabilities of the approach are demonstrated by computing the low-velocity in viscid flow over an airfoil. The CFD tools developed were included in the Rolls-Royce in-house CFD code Hydra designed for turbo-machinery and related applications.
