Additional information

Practical benefits resulting from this work ranged from environmental and economic, to providing much-needed technical data to the funding partner, Day Group Ltd., on an underutilised marketable product. The successful outcome of this work led to an award for a research project award for assessing the feasibility of using washed glass sand in floor screed, funded by Day Group Ltd. The research data informed the setting of a commercial recycling plant for converting glass into aggregate and the development of EcoSand (trade-name) is now marketed as paving sand under block paving and concrete slabs.
