This work was a successful collaboration between Kingston University and Imperial College London. This article has a significant impact on application of composite materials in vehicular structures and their damage performance under crush loading, as evidenced by its ranking as one of the top 25 hottest articles in Composite Structures (January – March 2009), and was selected as one of the top 10 outstanding scientific works by the Zwick Science Award Committee in 2011.
