The project that this work reports was supported by EPSRC and Dr. V M. Becerra was the Principal Investigator. Dr. Deng’s living costs were funded by the EPSRC. This work contributed to a monograph (J. Deng, Predictive control using feedback linearization based on neural networks, Lambert Academic Publishing, ISBN 978-3-8443-0009-3, 2011), and it has led to a great deal of interest, for example from the German marine industry.
