This paper reports outputs from the EU FP7 SNAPPER project. The models and design tools for a novel linear electrical generator were developed and validated experimentally. The design tools include a complete wave-to-wire model used to optimize the generator design. The project won "The Engineer" Magazine Innovation Award 2012 (Marine Category) and was shortlisted for an IET Innovation Award (2012). The project was judged “Excellent” by the Commission (Federica.Roffi@ec.europa.eu). Narec (Paul McKeever, email available) is seeking investment to commercialise this concept.
