Additional information

Originality lies in the introduction of new evaluation measures for use with Textual CBR systems to assess performance. Additionally, a novel experimental design is employed which removes the need for expert feedback. The significance is in that: this paper presents the first comparative study of alternative evaluation measures; the developed measures have been evaluated as benchmarks in other work (Zhou et al.); the evaluation design has been adopted by others (Ozturk et al.); and the measures are available to the community via COLIBRI (http://gaia.fdi.ucm.es./research/colibri /jcolibri/contributions). The extensive experimental evaluation conducted on NHS datasets shows rigor.
