Hierarchical video summarization in reference subspace
Video summarisation is highly needed for media archiving and indexing purposes. Summaries are used to provide viewers with an idea about the content of the corresponding video shot. This paper proposed an efficient hierarchical summarisation at subshot, shot and scene levels, achieving a better recall rate in key frame detection. The algorithm was implemented in a real time prototype developed by the RUSHES European consortium and demonstrated live in international events, e.g. IBC 2008 in Amsterdam. It was subsequently retained for potential commercial exploitation by some industrial partners in the consortium, e.g. FAST (Norway) and Fraunhofer (Germany). <EU grant RUSHES>
