Additional information

This work, funded by the EPSRC, is the result of a continuing collaborative relationship with Professor Stuart Taylor of the Cardiff Catalysis Institute (Cardiff University). This paper reports the synthesis, characterisation and application of nanoporous aluminosilicate materials as highly effective and selective heterogeneous catalysts for the addition reactions of alcohols to epoxides. The nanoporous materials produced display well-defined structural dimensions and high Lewis acid activity which is dependent on aluminium content. This paper was selected to feature in the Editor's Choice section of the journal.
