Ruthless

RUTHLESS is a five-part comedy-drama produced by BBC Radio 4 and broadcast Monday-Friday, 9-13 January 2012 the Woman’s Hour, weekly drama slot. Each episode is broadcast at 10.45am and again at 7.45 each day bringing a combined average daily audience of 4-500,000. The challenge to the writer is to tell the story in 15-minute episodes – requiring a very precise type of narrative. It’s important that each episode is in itself rewarding to the casual listener, while at the same time offering the faithful audience something more substantial. The other challenge is to create engaging characters in such a short amount of time. To do this, Loane used the basics of the mystery genre to challenge the main character with a playful tale of deception and intrigue set in the world of office politics.
