Double-weighted statement

The edition mounts its textual case by assessing the significance of twenty-one early printed copies of the play housed in libraries around the world, including manuscript notes, and also uncovers a previously unrecognized record of modern amateur performance. The edition was ten years in the making from contract to publication, involved a lengthy period of data collection in primary and secondary sources and necessitated a sustained immersion in early printed literature. This research engagement allows the edition to shift traditional ways of thinking about the play, resituating it in terms of Palestinian geographies and Old Testament and Jewish histories.
