Double-weighted statement

The monograph explores, for the first time, the significance of Shakespeare in world cinema (in non-Anglophone languages and cultures). As such, it draws on an extensive sample of some seventy-five film examples that proved difficult to access; as part of its methodology, the study discusses issues of availability, exemplarity and representation. The book draws on a number of paradigms but invariably in order to extend them or to propose new ways of seeing and understanding based on concepts of global interchange and relationality. The study was many years in the making and depended for completion on institutional and funded leave.
