Additional information

Osteoarthritis is a high burden disease, and the incidence is predicted to increase significantly over the coming years, due to changing population demographics. This paper presents a technique that can assess gait characteristics in osteoarthritis in a large population of subjects, and identifies a parameter, knee flexion in stance, that can be used to monitor progression of knee osteoarthritis and the response to therapy. It has the potential to be developed into a tool that can be used in standard clinical practice to assess functional impairment in knee osteoarthritis.
