Solid-State Supramolecular Organization of Polythiophene Chains Containing Thienothiophene Units
This work lays the foundations for molecular modelling of highly efficient thienothiophene semiconducting polymers with record high mobility (at a time) for the development of low-cost printed electronics with a lower carbon footprint. Modelling established structure-performance relationships for polymer chain solid state packing responsible for exceptionally high charge transport. The work is relevant to applications including circuit/memory, electrophoretic displays, organic photovoltaics, organic light emitting displays. The author instigated molecular modelling studies which are now adopted as standards in the industry.
