Additional information

<25> This article develops an original take on the process of implementing scientific theories - software engineering and optimisation techniques are proposed, not only as an element of developing the implementation, but to drive the development of the theories themselves. The work is the result of inter-disciplinary collaboration between a computer scientist and a psychologist. This work will be further extended during the 18-month ESRC-funded project 'Automatic Generation of Scientific Theories' (started 23/8/13) which extends the collaboration to a philosopher of science. The techniques from the article will be augmented with genetic programming to automatically create theories of psychological data.
