Additional information

This paper is ground breaking as it presents a fundamental shift in how electro active components are mass manufactured. It both proposes and tests the feasibility of eliminating the need for separate electrical component manufacture and assembly, and integrates manufacturing upstream into plastics manufacturing. A further PhD project began in October 2012 (photovoltaic manufacturing) and a patent was filed in December 2012. A further PhD (battery manufacture) will begin in October 2013. The Society of Plastics Engineers issued a technical bulletin due to widespread potential for plastic professionals. A spin out project into composite manufacture with GE Aviation is agreed.
