Additional information

This work supported the development of a new clean energy product – pneumatic battery, which is now commercially available through a UK company - Energetix Groups (James Derby, james.derby@pnupower.com). The pneumatic batteries can be used to replace chemical batteries for Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS). The power rate of the pneumatic battery has now reached 3MW. Energetix is now exploring potential for pneumatic batteries to be used as Power Grid Energy Storage. Their pilot study is on-going with National Grid. The work has also led to the invention of “Magnetic Once-through Air-Electricity Converter” and the patent application has been filed (GB1306165.0).
