This paper provides a prediction model for software architectural knowledge sharing which has been validated by four real world cases. It led to a collaboration between Bournemouth University and State Key Lab on Software Engineering, Wuhan University (China) which resulted in grant funding from the Natural Science Foundation of China for the project ‘ESSENTIAL: Enterprise Service deSign based on ExistiNg software Architectural knowLedge’ (Dr Peng Liang, £20k, grant ref: 61150110484 (http://www.nsfc.gov.cn/Portal0/InfoModule_396/35652.htm)).
