Additional information

<24> This paper presents a model of human reading based on a multilayer perceptron neural network. The work is significant in that it challenges the standard view that observations of the dependency of time taken to read a word on its length can only be explained by serial models of reading. The work uses rigorous statistical techniques as required when comparing models with human subject-based data.
