English abstract

"La trace, l'archive, l'imaginaire" is an article in the volume "Paul Ricoeur: penser la mémoire" edited by François Dosse and Catherine Goldenstein (Seuil, 2013). This text, the written version of a talk given during the inaugural colloquium organised for the opening of the Ricoeur Archive (December 3rd and 4th 2010), is dedicated to the relation of the French philosopher with memory and history as questioned by cinematic process, and especially the way cinema fulfilled or interrogated Ricoeur's assertions regarding the Holocaust.
